Summertime storms returning

Cincinnati Forecast - July 11th, 2014-slide0
Mike Groenke

Nice weather is expected for your Friday giving us a relatively refreshing end to the week. Be prepared to ride the weather rollercoaster over the next seven days though Mother Nature takes us to summer and then a little “throwbackThursday” (read: #tbt) to spring for the middle of next week!

We are looking at plenty of sunshine with highs in the 80s today and low humidity. This will translate into a very nice evening with temperatures quickly dropping through the 70s.

Increasing southerly flow will bring a return to the muggies for your Saturday and a boost in temperatures. Highs are expected to reach nearly 90 degrees and a few extra clouds may even turn into a pop up storm or two.

A strong cold front will start to push towards the region on Sunday. Ahead of it, scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop as highs push into the lower 90s. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the entire Tri-State in the “slight risk” for severe weather. Damaging winds and large hail will be possible with any storms that develop on Sunday.

Numerous showers and storms are expected on Monday as the front actually crosses the region. Behind it, a serious punch of cool, Canadian air will make its way down into the Ohio Valley. Highs may barely make it into the 70s for the middle of next week! Record lows near 50 (or even the upper 40s in outlying areas) are possible as well. Stay tuned for the latest forecast updates.
