The cost of summer camp activities can be daunting if you have more than one child and children of multiple ages in the family. Your community library can be a great source of free activities for every child in the family. Infants through the teen years are welcome at activities that are available at the library for summer fun.

Sarasota's Gulf Gate Library offers a variety of activities for the month of July, and the first week after the July 4th holiday is the perfect time to check out the offerings for summer free fun. listed below is only a sample of July fun at the library.

*Baby Rhyme and Sign Time for ages 0-2 years of age will be offered on July 8th from 10:15-11:00 a.m. Language skills for infants and toddlers are part of this activity, and are developmentally appropriate for language practice. Bring your baby to have fun with rhymes and learn some sign language to make communication with your baby fun and different.

*"Tween Book Club" at Gulf Gate Library gives children ages 10-13 the opportunity to share a book with peers and participate in a group discussion to share reviews of the book. Children benefit from sharing ideas with peers and a book club is a great setting for conversation.

*Forty Carrots Family Center in Sarasota is partnering with Gulf Gate Library on July 10th for a great play time for young children, parents, grandparents, and other caregivers. Partners in Play gives the adults in a child's life to learn play skills with young children. Partners in Play will be held from 10:15-11:00 a.m. for mobile babies and children up to the age of 5 years. Come and play with us to learn new play skills with your young child.

* Science is part of the fun at the library this summer with "Fizz, Boom, and Read" on July 11 at Gulf Gate Library. Miss Michelle will present hands-on activities for children ages birth-5 years of age to play and learn science concepts.
