Oklahoma City Pride Parade http://okcpride.org/2014/ has always been held on and near 39th. OKCPride Weekend has traditionally been held between 39th and Pennsylvania Avenues and Memorial Park, at about 30th and North Classen Boulevard. Last year, much of the event was hosted in BRICKTOWN, and this year it was back at 39th at 6pm on Sunday, June 22, 2014.

Memorial Park is under renovations, and the entire park is closed for the Summer in order for those refurbishing actions to take place. The 89 Million will look like this, and should make for an excellent resource venue for next year http://www.okc.gov/parks/projects/index.html

PRIDE is a world celebration of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered individuals, relationships and culture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_pride Many individuals, and families, especially in Oklahoma have struggled excessively with religious and social constraints, in part because of being in the Bible Belt http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_Belt , and Oklahoma is a Red State. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_states_and_blue_states

And the Gay Mayor.... for years, Old Classen High School alum, Floyd Martin. Martin, a highly visible political voice on a variety of topics and consistently a humorist often in a burlesque style:
