Summer in the United Methodist Church

During the summer, UMC news and events tend to slow down. Many churches suspend choir and other musical programs until fall. Attendance tends to drop over the summer as church members depart on vacations.

In most churches, kids (and parents) look forward to Vacation Bible School, when kids can spend a week or two at church participating in lively and entertaining programs that help deepen their faith and teach them about the Bible and the church's beliefs. Younger kids participate in music and craft activities, while older kids get the chance to help put on the programs.

Also in the summer, new pastoral appointments are announced, leading some churches to receive new leadership. Several churches in the Denver area will be seeing new faces behind the pulpit, including Deer Park United Methodist Church in Bailey.
