If your kids love to play in the water, here are a few ideas to keep them nice & cool during the summer. Swim classes are in full swing as part of the City of Sacramento Department of Parks and Recreation summer programs, so sign them up for one of the many levels of swimming classes running throughout the summer. For the little ones age 6 month to 3 years, join the Blowfish class where parents & children work in tandem to achieve comfort in the water while playing games that teach different techniques. For those 3 to 4, jump in with the Starfish and begin your swimming adventure as you explore basic water readiness skills. Kids age 4 & up have wide range of levels with beginner 1 & 2, intermediate 3 as well as intermediate/ advance 4 and advance 5 with stroke / turn classes available for those on the city swim league. Different pools in the area offer family evening swims from 3 to 7 for $2 a family member, adults with children are half price. Family Nights are on Monday at George Sim Pool, Tuesday at Johnston Pool and Southside Pool & Wading Pool, Thursday at Glenn Hall Pool and Friday at Doyle Pool. Summer recreation prices are $2 for children & $4 per adult (18 +) however for those planning frequent visits you can purchase punch cards with a choice of 10 visits at $9 for kids or $18 for adults or 20 visits at $16 per child & $32 per adult.
