It’s summer in Southern California and that means plenty of time off for sports, sports and did we mention sports?

But did you know that the Dodgers and Angels aren’t the only game in town this time of year?

There are plenty of local pro and amateur teams, tournaments and events that present fan-friendly, affordable and over-the-top excitement throughout the summer. Plus it’s a great way to support local teams and events right here in our own community.

Here are just a few of the sporting teams, tournaments and events happening locally this summer:

LA Kiss
What: LA Kiss are in the Western Division of the National Conference of the Arena Football League (AFL). They’re owned by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of the band Kiss.

LA Blues SC
What: LA Blues is a semi-pro women’s soccer team in the USL W-League
Where: StubHub Center, 18400 S. Avalon Blvd, Carson, CA and Occidental College, 1600 Campus Rd., Los Angeles, CA

OC Blues
What: OC Blues is a semi-pro soccer team in the USL Pro League

US Open of Surfing
