Summer Screen brings free outdoor movies to Brooklyn

Brooklyn's popular outdoor movie series, SummerScreen, makes its triumphant return this year, once again showing films in McCarren Park in Williamsburg. There's still a while yet before they start screening them, so for May and June, you'll have to tide yourself over with options in Manhattan and Queens -- but come July 9, start claiming your seats in the park before sundown, because that place fills up quickly.

SummerScreen has its schedule up online, and they've picked five fantastic (or at least very enjoyable) movies for July and August. The only thing that remains up in the year is what movie will close out the season on August 13; that one's reserved for audience choice, so if you're inclined to show up, be sure to cast your vote!

The rest of the schedule is:

July 9: Back to the Future
July 16: Zoolander
July 23: Cry-Baby
July 30: Heathers
August 6: The Big Lebowski
August 13: audience choice between Big Trouble in Little China, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Jawbreaker, Kill Bill: Vol. 1, Mean Girls, Spice World, The Warriors

Doors to the screening area open at 6pm each Wednesday evening, and movies start just after sundown.
