Summer reading programs at Tucson libraries 2014

The 2014 summer reading programs at the Tucson libraries kick off with a Family Fiesta on Friday, May 16, 2014. This year's program themes are Fizz Boom Read for kids, Spark a Reaction for teens, and Literary Elements for adults. The program runs from May 22 through July 19, 2014.

The fiesta takes places 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Tanque Verde Swap Meet. Activities include meeting Curious George, a puppet show, book giveaways, the Bookmobile, and experiments with plants and germination.

The Fizz Boom Read program is for preschool to grade 6. The Spark A Reaction program is for ages 12 to 18 or those in grades 6 to 12. The Literary Elements program is for those over 18. All programs will have online tracking this year.

The program ends with a celebration at the Reid Park Zoo on July 19. The celebration goes with the Fizz Boom Read program and invitations for it can be picked up beginning June 23.
