The summer is winding down and the traditional end of summer is this Labor Day Weekend. It will be a big weekend of running with two great events coming up.
On Saturday it is the 21st Annual Saturday in the Park Women’s Race in Holmdel Park. It is a challenging course through the wooded park all for several worthwhile women’s causes.
On Monday it is the Pier House 5K in Long Branch. It is a flat and fast ocean front course. It is also the final leg of the Jersey Shore Grand Prix Series. The series also includes the big Jersey Shore events of the Spring Lake 5, Sheehan Classic, Belmar 5 and Asbury Park 5K. Series awards will be presented after the race.
And for those looking for a long training run there is the Jersey Shore Running Club’s Sunday Run which starts at Bodman Park in Middletown.
It will be a fitting end to the unofficial end of summer.
And for anyone looking to start a running program with the goal of participating in many of the upcoming 5K’s there is a beginner’s group starting on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in the Spring Lake – Wall area. So if you want to get in on the action check it out.
