Putumayo Kids newest CD "Picnic Playground"

In the fourth part of our series on new summer music releases, we spin around and head east to New York and the home of Putumayo World Music and their educational children’s recording division Putumayo Kids.

Considered a premier recording label in World Music for both adults and children, Putumayo is dedicated to introducing music and cultures from around the world to young listeners.

The company has been a recipient of numerous honors and recognition from such respected organizations as: the National Parenting Publications Association; Parents’ Choice; the American Library Association; ALSC Notable Children’s Recordings and Scholastic Magazine.

Their collection of CDs feature a variety of artists plus extensive multilingual liner notes, and as part of each sale, a portion of the proceeds of all Putumayo Kids CDs benefit non-profit groups that support children, families, schools and charities in the countries that represent their music.

In their newest 12 tracks recording, Picnic Playground that is scheduled for release on July 28, 2009 are selections representing artists and their unique music from South Africa, Australia, France, Germany, Denmark, Trinidad, the United States, Canada and Cuba.

Picnic Playground is a veritable feast for your child’s ears and all tracks are available for preview and sale at Amazon.com.

In celebration of the release of Picnic Playground, performing artists on the CD are touring this summer with a wonderful program for children and their families. A schedule of their live performances can be found here.
