Summer movie events: Outdoor and indoor (part 1)

See also

Since summer and nice weather are here, it is time for outdoor movie events. Although the films are aimed at a younger audience, they also work for us kids at heart. Some of the movies may have been viewed on DVD, but now is your chance to get together with the community and view them on the big screen. As quoted in previous Summer Movie Event articles: Like a scene from the memorable movie Doc Hollywood, when the small town of Grady is gathered for the Squash Festival and they watch an old film outdoors.

Well, locally in Modesto and Oakdale they like to bring back some of that small town charm with the Movies Under the Stars events. These events are free or low cost and fun for the whole family. The nice thing is that if you are not sure if your little ones will sit through a movie at least you will not waste much money finding out.

Every summer Oakdale hosts Movies Under the Stars at Cottle Woods Park, located at East J Street & Ventanas Avenue. The movies are free and they begin at dusk. So, bring a blanket and cuddle up with your family and friends for a fun night.
Here is this year's line up;
June 21, Frozen
July 19, Lego
August 16, Despicable Me 2
