Ah yes, the beginning of September, the back nine of the Summer calls. The humidity and rain will lift some and the slowest month to average on calendar slowly smacks into the many incoming waves of snow birds arriving! The live entertainment is preparing rather nicely, as the sound only continues to improve around these parts.
September keeps spinning lovely treats within the SW Florida music scene. With one of our hard working steadies on their earned annual month's vacation, other bands are playing some other slots and these are a must catch, as in October it is off and running into season!
Sunday nights at the Buddha Nightclub got interesting with other local faves taking the stage for Sunday Funday. Soapy Tuna and The Fall Down have hosted these two thus far, and this would not make a bad rotate for the other Sunday's! This week is another kick ass week at the Buddha also, as you have The Fall Down for your Ladies Night hosts on Wednesday evening, Remedy takes Thursday's slot and into a Soapy Tuna weekend, rolling into another Sunday Funday with The Fall Down! Music rips at 10:00 PM every Wednesday through Sunday at the Buddha Nightclub.
Thursdays at Diamond Billiards will also host another guest for Thursday evenings as well so there are opportunities to possibly check out some other bands you may not get to enjoy. Soapy Tuna has taken over Ladies Night at Cigar Bar Live for Wednesday's in September, so go have some Soapy Ladies fun music launches at 9:30 PM.
Speaking of Sunday, shout out to those that hosted, put together, volunteered and entertained at Popeyepalooza IV, at Valerie's Lounge. This was a grand afternoon to say the least and well done to all: Angel Sanchez, Lena Neroni, Michael and all staff at Valerie's; sound crew and local musicians also. There are people to mention I do not know so hats off to all! Everyone must check out the new Wallow Sound line up as soon as you can, this was this fan's first taste and it tastes like more, so go get yourself some soon! Gregory Pope brings a great stage presence and voice to this already tight band of lads. JJ Armstrong is just a pro on the skins, too. If you liked Wallow Sound before, you will love them now!
The Grayson Rogers Band took over the Buddha stage this past Thursday evening and this fan has to say that she hopes country rockin' zen will remain even upon a rotational basis. It made for one of the best nights in a while, as do many acts at the Buddha, so this band has it down rather well to hang ith some of the big boys in music around here, well done indeed! They are now representing with a six piece line up with adding a steel string player, the return of Eric Rule on guitar and a switch up for CJ on guitar and John Coccia was on bass and it sounded fantastic all evening long!
Naples has it rockin' this weekend, as you have the lads of Smack Daddy hosting a spankfest at Jack's Bait Shack and also, The Blu Tones are playing their awesome variety of covers at Chrissy's from 7:00 - 10:30 PM and makes for a great night's starter! Smack Daddy is sounding rather fabulous and it is a great time to catch their show, they are right at home on Jack's stage too, so prepare for some good rockin', smackin' shenanigans but also some of the best covers around.
You may always keep it simple and get some Simple Jack, usually on Wednesday's at Nemo's, and the weekends have been cranking for these fine youngins! They have been popping up at The Sandy Parrot and Rack em Billiards of late and the Cape dates will bring you their original music. This fan will cover and feature an original evening with these toga professionals very soon! Make sure to stop by the bands Facebook and Reverbnation pages for the latest places to get Simple.
Sarasota will host Friday evening's rockfest with Stones of Madness hosting a birthday party for their own Kelly Shaefer and will hit the stage at Jake's Tavern after 9:00 PM. This band is a lovely smack of hard rock for this area and this fan has been hungry for a while now! Before the Fire and Grey State will accompany them on this stage for a triple smack of some serious rock being laid down! Check the Facebook events page for details and map to set your trek, come out to Jake's and have some cake and great music!
September tends to be a slower month around these parts, but this fan has to say that the sound around here at the moment is just some of the best I have heard. So hats off to the local musicians out here all week, even in the dead of summer and this month, you have been making good of the down time and definitely working on things. Thank you for allowing me to capture it, it has been grand and great to hear!
On the concert front this week, we are fortunate enough to be invited to capture some great shows, so stay tuned show reviews and slideshows! Keep it rolling, because everyone sure has the rockin' down rather nicely, thank you.
