The Dixie Derby Girls are back again in July, this time they are Greasin’ up their bearings to bring you “Summer Fights!”
Your favorite Huntsville, AL derby teams the Raging Rocket All-Stars (as the T-Birds) and the Rocket City Rollers (the Pink ladies), will hit the track on July 16th at the VBC South Hall in a Grease-themed doubleheader against the Jacksonville, FL Rollergirls and the Mississippi Rollergirls.
Currently ranked #19 in the WFTDA South Central region, the All-Stars will have their hands full taking on the wildcard Jacksonville Rollergirls, an unranked team new to the WFTDA that has posted a noteworthy win this season against Hard Knox from Knoxville (ranked #12) and close games against Memphis (ranked #11) and Big Easy (ranked #18).
Meanwhile, your rookie squad, the Rocket City Rollers, will take on the Mississippi Rollergirls, a team that Dixie has faired well against in past years. The past two meetings in 2010 and 2009 have marked convincing Dixie victories.
Tickets are $10 in advance from www.dixiederbygirls.com, or $12 at the door. Doors open at 4PM, with the first bout starting at 5PM, and the 2nd starting at 7PM. Part of the proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Alabama.
Fans can even get in on the action by dressing up as their favorite Grease character. Break out your best Danny or Sandy costume, dress it up as Rizzo or Frenchie and receive $2 off your ticket at the door, plus be entered into the halftime costume contest for a chance to win prizes!
