Live music is alive and well at the Pearl. This summer Pearl and San Antonio Jazz legend Doc Watkins created a weekly dance hall series featuring the best of South Texas dance hall music every Wednesday night at the Pearl Stable. Audiences were able to enjoy music ranging from swing to Conjunto, Polka and Dixieland from acts like The Lone Star Swingbillies and Tyler Jackson and the River City Stompers. Due to the popularity of the series the Pearl is announcing an encore show set for Saturday August 30, 2014.
Doc Watkins will close out the series with a special performance and he is being joined by a six piece New Orleans swing band. This local jazz legend is a pianist, arranger, band leader and founder of South Texas Jazz. South Texas Jazz is composed of six bands playing some of the best jazz music in the city. He has performed with various organizations including the San Antonio Symphony and the Olmos Ensemble.
Saturday’s performance is free and open to the public and space is limited so guests are encouraged to come early. There will be a cash bar featuring Corona, Modelo, wine, soda and water.
