Summer Dance Hall Series at Pearl

Summer is finally here and it’s time for music festivals. Pearl and San Antonio Jazz legend Doc Watkins recently announced a new Summer Dance Hall Series at the Pearl Stables. This free music series will be held every Wednesday night and will feature a wide variety of music representative of the rich history of South Texas dance hall music.

Doc Watkins has put together an impressive lineup that includes South Texas Swing, Conjunto, Polka, Dixieland, Bolero and a Classic Hill Country singer songwriter. Doors open at 5:30p.m. and music will begin at 6p.m. Space is limited so guests are encouraged to come early. There will be a cash bar offering Corona, Modelo, wine, sodas and water. Summer Dance Hall Series Lineup includes:

  • July 9 - The Lone Star Swingbillies – This band plays Western swing, vintage rock and tonky tonk.
  • July 16 - Monica Rodriguez and Soundrave – San Antonio band that plays a variety of music ranging from Latin, Disco, Top 40 and Country.
  • July 23 - Tennessee Valley Authority – This bluegrass band has been making music for years while performing with Bill Monroe and Flaco Jimenez and opened with numerous bands.
  • July 30 - Tyler Jackson and the River City Stompers – Tyler Jackson plays the tenor banjo, mandolin and upright bass but is known. The River City Stompers is a traditional Dixieland band that plays 1920 jazz music.
  • August 6 - Terry Cavanagh and the Alpine Express – Terry Cavanagh is an accordion player from New Braunfels and the Alpine Express is a polka band that plays authentic Alpine music.
  • August 13 - The Prados
  • August 20 - Mark Halata and Texavia – Mark Halata is an accordion player and the front man for Houston based Czech polka band with a country music twist.
  • August 27 - The Melissa Ludgwig Band – Texas band that plays many styles of music ranging from radio friendly pop to alternative country.
