Summer camps are ready for kids in San Antonio


School will be ending soon.

While the kids are celebrating their summer freedom, parents are looking for some activities to keep them busy. Here are a few ideas for summer camps and activities in the San Antonio area.

1. Magik Theatre Summer Camp for kids ages 3 to 17 years. It is located at 420 South Alamo and Camp Showbiz is a combination of fun, learning and creativity in a day camp structure. See the link above for dates that are offered in 1 or 2 or 4 week sessions.

2. San Antonio Children's Museum Summer Camp is located at 305 E. Houston Street. There are summer camps and weekly workshops so check the full schedule and fees. Some of the topics include: Lego Camp, Amazing Exploration and Sensational Summer. Members get discounted rates and free admission to the museum. And HEB sponsors a free family night every 3rd Tuesday of the month from 5pm to 7pm.

3. Alamo Gymnastics Summer Camp is located at 16665 Huebner Road. They offer a day camp schedule Monday-Friday from 8:30 to 3:30 p.m. with games, outdoor activities and swimming. Summer camp runs from June to August. During the school year they have an after-school program with van service to the gym that includes 1 hour of homework time and 1 hour of fun time.

4. The Painted Plate Summer Pottery Camp is located at 11703 Huebner Road. For those creative kids there is a day camp schedule from 9:30 a.m. to noon plus a snack. Artistic projects include making a bird house, pottery and painting. This is a fun place for children's parties also.
