Summer Air Shows in the Chicago and Milwaukee area

The summer air shows in the Chicago and Milwaukee area bring excitement to the area as spectators gather to look into the skies for spectacular aerobatics shows and to see vintage aircraft. There are several opportunities to drink in the excitement of airplanes and daring flight formations at the Wings of Freedom Tours, German Fest in Milwaukee, EAA Air Venture in Oshkosh and the Chicago Air & Water Show.
 

Wings of Freedom Tours

P 51 Wings of FreedomWings of Freedom is bringing their nationwide tour to the Chicago area. Collings Foundation has scheduled tours of the vintage WWII aircraft in Waukegan, West Chicago, Valparaiso, Kankakee and Wheeling.

German Fest Milwaukee Air Show July 25

The AeroShell Aerobatic Team performs one of its signature maneuvers during the afternoon air show at EAA AirVenture. (EAA photo)The night air show is a new event at German Fest in Milwaukee. The two hour aerial display starts at 7:30 pm on Saturday night. A variety of planes, ranging from vintage to modern will fly through the skies over the lake front.

  • The one night air show will take place due east of the German Fest grounds, along the east edge of the island. The show will also involve a stunning fireworks show.
     

 German Fest a Milwaukee Festival July 23 to 26

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh July 27 – August 2 
 

EAA AirVenture air show pilots Sean D. A collection of warbird fighter aircraft not seen in one place for years will highlight the huge annual reunion of warbird aircraft and associated activities at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2009 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh. The 57th annual edition of EAA AirVenture, “The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration,” will be held July 27-August 2.
 

Among the legendary World War II fighter aircraft scheduled to participate include restored Japanese Zero and German Messerschmitt 109, as well as British Hurricane and Spitfire, plus Hellcat, Wildcat, P-38, P-40, P-47, and always-popular P-51s from the American side.
