Summer 2014: Shakespeare in Delaware Park

A long-time Buffalo summer tradition, Shakespeare in Delaware Park begins its 39th season of performances on Shakespeare Hill in Delaware Park on Thursday, June 19th at 7:30 p.m. The annual festival draws more than 40,000 patrons every summer, and is one of the country’s top free Shakespeare festivals.

The first show scheduled for 2014 is Henry V, running Thursday, June 19th through Sunday, July 13th; the show will be directed by Shakespeare in Delaware Park founder Saul Elkin. The second show scheduled is The Comedy of Errors, directed by Steve Vaughan and running Thursday, July 24th through Sunday, August 17th.

Performances take place weather permitting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays during the dates listed above. Find out more about Shakespeare in Delaware Park at shakespeareindelawarepark.org.

An opening night reception will take place Thursday, June 19th from 6 to 7 p.m. at Shakespeare Hill, featuring a wine tasting and light hors d’oeuvres, with musical entertainment from The Royall Consort. Tickets are $25 for Shakespeare in Delaware Park members and $35 for non-members. Get tickets at the website listed above.

Shakespeare in Delaware Park and the Buffalo Bisons pair up for the fifth annual Bases Merlot-ed Ballpark Wine Trail event on Saturday, July 19th from 5 to 8 p.m. the event will feature local food trucks and more than 20 tasting stations – tickets are $35 in advance.
