Sulphur man arrested for arson

On March 26, 2014, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched regarding a report of an arson. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who advised on the night of January 22, he left his truck parked at a home on Common Street. A short time later, the victim received a call advising his truck was on fire. The victim returned to the home to discover the Lake Charles Fire Department had extinguished the fire, however, his truck was completely destroyed.

After further investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Christopher M. Kelly, 36, 200 E. Jim Pickins Road, Sulphur, an acquaintance of the victim, in connection with this arson. Kelly was arrested on April 30 without incident. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with arson.

Judge Robert Wyatt set his bond at $25,000.

Deputy Christopher Scharp was the arresting deputy and CPSO Detective Glenn Lowery is the lead investigator on this case.
