Shots rang out in the early morning hours at a pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown and singer Pia Mia. Around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, producer Marion Suge Knight was shot six times while partying with Brown and friends at 1OAK in West Hollywood. According to the New York Daily News on Sunday, two other unidentified party goers were also shot during the chaos and were transported to a local hospital.
Brown's pre-VMA party was star-studded with guests including Tyson Beckford and Justin Bieber as well as NBA stars JaVale McGee and Glenn Davis. There are reports that The Game showed up to the event but after an altercation with security, he was denied entry. It is unknown if that had anything to do with the shooting which took place hours later.
Although Suge Knight was shot six times, he walked out of the club on his own. Police saw the injured music producer and tended to him until he could be taken to the hospital by ambulance. Knight underwent emergency surgery and is expected to recover. One of the other victims is said to be in critical condition.
Multiple sources are reporting that Chris Brown was an intended target in the attack. Though he was not hit in any of the gunfire. Club goers were allowed to leave 1OAK while police officers stood by with guns drawn after questioning guests about the incident. One suspected gunman was reportedly taken into custody.
After the event dispersed and attendees were allowed to head home, Chris Brown took to Twitter. He posted, "It's disappointing that we as a society can't have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes. Miss me with the bull****!!!"
