Clevelanders who love cars and the music of the 1950's are in for a real treat if they head for Sugarcreek, Ohio in the heart of Amish country this weekend. The town is holding their 24th annual Fabulous 50's Fling on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14 featuring classic cars, a professionally judged car show, hot rods and live performances of music from the 1950's.
Fabulous 50's Fling Named the Top Downtown Event for cars in Ohio in 2009 and rated one of the top 1950's era shows in Ohio, the Fabulous 50's Fling will feature a Friday night Cruise -in for cars of all ages and an all day vintage car show on Saturday (showcasing vehicles from 1980 and older). More than 800 classic cars are expected to attend.
Judged on a professional level by local car clubs and members of Cruisin' Times Magazine, a prize of $500 will be awarded to the "Best in Show".
Rock-N-Roll, Doo-Wop and Motown will be the featured styles of music at the Festival. There will be performances by the BelAirs and Phil in the Blanks.
For visitors arriving early to the Festival on Saturday, breakfast can be purchased at the First United Methodist Church near the fire station on N. Broadway Ave. -- right next to the Fabulous 50's event area. The Pepsi tent and the Main Food Line open at 11:30 a.m. There will be a large tent with tables provided for your convenience.
Food at the Main Food Line will feature bargain prices. Among food items available at the Festival will be hot dogs, chicken, bratwurst, French fries, onion rings and pulled pork sandwiches. Desserts include fry pies, root beer floats, ice cream and pies.
