Sugar Bowl 2014 Oklahoma vs. Alabama odds, TV start time & prediction

The 2014 Sugar Bowl takes place tonight between two teams that may have had BCS championship T-shirts printed back in August but now are just hoping to end the season on a positive note.

Alabama, who was shooting for a three-peat this season as NCAA football champions came up short in their effort and will have to settle for a showdown vs. OU instead. Now before you just assume that this game will be a runaway, just consider how the UCF-Baylor game turned out.

According to a SB Nation report on Jan. 2, Bob Stoops' Sooners finished the year with three straight wins, including a huge win over Oklahoma State, while the Tide finished the season on a down note after being shocked by the Auburn Tigers.

Does that matter for tonight's game? Well, it might.

These bowl games can be tricky, especially if you are trying to predict the winners.

Alabama is the better team in tonight's Sugar Bowl match-up, but how much do the WANT to be here may decide if OU can pull the upset. It's not that the Sooners aren't talented enough, but sometimes desire can override pure talent, just ask Baylor.

Vegas odds makers currently have the Tide as at -17 with the over/under number set at 52.

Prediction: The Tide should roll, but those points look tempting. OU knows they are a huge underdog, so they should play with a bit of a chip on their shoulder.

Pick: Sooners +17

The Sugar Bowl kicks-off at 8:00 p.m. EST and can be seen on ESPN and streaming live on Watch ESPN.
