The religious item was lifted from the Mary Immaculate Church at 16 Browns Lane in Bellport when someone broke into the house of worship. The 3-inch by 5-inch gold crucifix was stolen sometime between 7 p.m. on Nov. 25 and 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 26, investigators said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is also offering of up to $5,000 in a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
