Investigators believe the assailant struck Nov. 4 at a Jamba Juice location on Nesconset Highway in Stony Brook. Pattern Crime detectives think the same man is responsible for another seven armed robberies, all of which occurred in the past two weeks.
Police said the unidentified man enters a store and pretends to buy something. After the employee opens the cash register, the assailant displays a gun and demands cash.
Cops said he has struck at gas stations in Eastport, Calverton, Mastic, North Babylon, St. James, Dix Hills and Bohemia, as well as Monday night at a Jamba Juice in Stony Brook. After all of the robberies, the man was seen fleeing the store on foot. Detectives believe he may be fleeing to a nearby getaway car.
No injuries have been reported in any of the eight robberies.
Police describe the suspect as a white male, between 25 and 35 years old. He is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall and has a thin to medium build. Detectives said he often wears a dark-colored or gray hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect or may have information about the robberies is encouraged to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
