You've all heard the saying: "junk in, junk out." It is a cliché' but a true one. If you are like many people your focus is on losing weight not a life style change. While losing weight is a legitimate desire, if you start a diet with that mindset, you will fail. You might drop the weight, but the moment you go back to you old eating habits, or cave in to your cravings, the pounds will slip right back on.
If you change your food, you'll change your life, because nutrition makes all the difference!
The key to a successful nutritional plan is knowing what to eat and making a life change, NOT a ‘diet.’ The stigma connected to the word 'diet' correlates to sacrifice, scarcity and deprivation (and diets don’t work as a result!)
Lifestyle change is a holistic approach to lasting change. Rather than just altering your food intake, try making a lifestyle shift. Adding activity to daily your regimen can reduce stress, add fun while socializing with others, sharpen your mind, improve sleep, brighten your skin, promote self-confidence and lift your spirits just to name a few.
If you are dealing with any ailments, digestive problems, mood swings, lethargy, brain fog, fatigue and depression, proper nutrition and activity can make a HUGH difference! Activity can be as simple as a brisk walk or going dancing, to more rigorous activities such as cycling, running, hiking, swimming and more.
Make no mistake – this is about lifestyle change, but if you do things you enjoy; activities that are fun, and choose food you like, things will be different for you. You will be energized, feel stronger and fit, have better moods and more confidence!
One method of choosing healthier foods is to 'add' them to what you are already eating. Rather than write a list of 'forbidden foods,' simply add a green salad to that hamburger. Have fruit before you eat the ice cram or cat. You will pleasantly find yourself 'crowding out' the bad food with good food until eventually your eating habits have changed.
