The Subway uproar erupted after one clever customer at the popular national sandwich chain noticed his foot-long sandwich was a bit short. After ordering his sandwich, the man sat down at a table, unwrapped it and pulled out a measuring tape, according to a Jan. 18, 2013 report by UPI.
Matt Corby of Australia laid his measuring tape along the top of his foot-long sandwich and realized it was coming up a bit short of the promised length. To prove it, he took a picture of the 11" sandwich and posted it online. The rest, as they say, is history.
Corby posted the picture at the source, Subway's Facebook page, and the comments rolled in. The company even chimed in with an explanation of sorts. Although they did not offer a reason for the shorter bread, they did acknowledge that the bread in the photo was not baked to their standards.
The Subway uproar has inspired other sandwich lovers to measure their bread, and it seems that Corby's experience isn't unique after all. Will you take the time to measure your food the next time you visit your local sandwich shop, or is the Subway uproar not worth the time? Your comments are welcome.
