Subway's 1 inch lie

Since Jared came bursting, or perhaps slimming onto television screens, the only other Subway association that could compete would be the '$5 dollar foot-longgg' jingle. Yet things are not what they seem. A man from Australia recently posted a picture of his foot long sandwich only just clocking in at eleven inches, demanding a response from Subway. Subway attempted to play it off as an isolated incident and the picture mysteriously disappeared.

However, since that time, more pictures of subs of inadequate lengths have emerged, sparking resounding criticism for false advertisement. Let's be honest, Subway, we get it. The fast food world is not what it once was. The days of the 'dollar menu' will soon be a distant memory as costs, standards, and expectations rise. If you think about it, the idea of being able to get a filling meal without cooking for $5 should seem like quite a deal. Because it's not really possible.

If you have to up the price to a $6 dollar footlong, it's not the end of the world. But when you distort, deceive, and cut corners, those things tend to leave a bad taste in customers' mouths. Subway has already gotten into some hot water for skimping on toppings, and cutting back the meat. As we have discovered, customers are going to find out the truth anyway, and they'll know what they're paying for, so honesty is still the best business practice.

Can convenience stores replace Subway?
