Subway is being accused of inching from the truth about its footlong subs. The question is, “is Subway really serving 12 inch subs?”
The Huffington Post reports that an Australian man compared his footlong sub to a tape measure—he claims that the sandwich was 1 inch short of a foot.
A subway spokesperson provided what appeared to be a scripted response to the 1 inch short scandal. “We always strive for our customers to have the most positive experience possible, and we believe this was an isolated case in which the bread preparation procedures were unfortunately not allowed.”
Subway Australia issued the response, “a registered trademark as a descriptive name for the sub sold in Subway Restaurants and not intended to be measurement of length. The length of the bread baked in the restaurant cannot be assured each time as the proofing process may vary slightly each time in the restaurant.”
