The pioneering punk band Death rocked the stage on “The Arsenio Hall Show” Monday night after sharing their inspiring story to Hall and his studio audience. The band’s compelling journey was chronicled in the 2012 documentary “A Band Called Death” .

The Hackney brothers were teenagers when they formed their group in the early ‘70s, initiallying playing funk music before switching to punk. The Detroit natives told the late-night host record companies wouldn't touch them back then partly due to their name.

“ We got rejected by every major record label in the world.”

Although fame eluded the trio their careers were revived after one of their records became popular on the rave scene decades later long after they had disbanded.

The group treated Arsenio’s audience to a spirited performance of their single “Freakin’ Out”.

“A Band Called Deathwhich was released theatrically in 2013 is available on DVD.
