The organizers for the 2014 Iowa State Fair have made two big announcements this week. First on Tuesday, fair organizers announced that Contemporary Christian group the Newsboys and country phenoms Lady Antebellum would both be playing the 2014 Iowa State Fair Grandstand on separate days. Then earlier today, officials announced that Styx and Foreigner would co-headline the Grandstand this summer as well. The two bands will play the fair on August 17 at 8 p.m. Tickets for the concert will be $39 when they go on sale in the spring.
Styx burned up the 70's, 80's, and early 90's with hit after hit, including smashes like "Babe", "Come Sail Away", "Lady", "The Best of Times", "Too Much Time on My Hands", "Mr. Roboto", and "Show Me The Way". The band has generated 7 gold and 6 platinum/multi-platinum albums and toured all over the world. Check them out in the accompanying video.
Foreigner is one of the best-selling bands of all-time. The band's first five albums sold a combined 24 million copies in the U.S. alone. Like Styx, Foreigner was a well-oiled hit machine in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Hits like "Feels Like the First Time", "Cold as Ice", "Hot Blooded", "Double Vision", "Urgent", "Waiting for a Girl Like You", "Say You Will", and "I Want to Know What Love Is" dominated the charts worldwide. Foreigner just released their latest compilation, I Want to Know What Love Is: The Ballads, earlier this year.
