For the fashion obsessed, it seems as though there has been a void in network television since Style TV ceased programming and transitioned into the Esquire network late last Fall. Bringing its viewers top shows such as Jerseylicious and Giuliana & Bill, the top television channel shocked its fans when it announced the dissolution of what many coined as their "must-see" favorite shows. While many of Style TV's more popular series and shows found new network homes, the transition was still questionable to many fans and often left the question on whether the network would ever return.
As an answer to a prayer, Rida Khan (current CEO of Fashion TV and owner of ZeeReport.com), purchased Style TV recently for an undisclosed amount which was made public by announcement from her sources on May 15, 2014. The purchase will allow Khan to re-launch the favored network and to reintroduce both a mixture of the expected Style Network programming along with Fashion TV programming. Khan boasts,
It will be a mix of high-fashion and life style programming. There will be a lot of reality shows which will focus on the real heroes of the industry like Anna Wintour, Nina Garcia, Ralph Lauren, Karl Lagerfeld etc. and their day to day lives. Of course the programming will be very celebrity oriented but we will be dealing with the real Fashion Industry! I am surprised no network has made high fashion and beauty the prime focus in America. During my time at Fashion TV the highest viewers were from the North American Market. We do have some networks that touch it – but that is about all they do.
As Khan transitions into her new role and prepares for the grand relaunch of the Style Network in October 2014, spirits remain high that the adored network will be even better than it was before. Khan assures the public,
Being a pioneer in the digital media industry since 2008 has given me a great lead in the fashion industry. I have stayed abreast all new innovations and have heavy plans for the digital distribution of the channel. Most people in their 20s do not pay for cable anymore and are reliant upon digital distribution. The digital landscape is changing rapidly and we will be one of the first networks to dive deep into it.
The return of Style TV is just the tip of what all this network and its head fashion maven, Rida Khan has in store. Stay tuned and mark your calendars for this highly anticipated relaunch--it's what all of you devoted Style TV fashion enthusiasts have been waiting for.
