If I had to report my daily page views, about two-thirds (probably one -third) of them would be linked to TheYBF.com - the addictive destination for everything Black Hollywood and celebrity gossip. Since its launch in 2005, the story of the black celebrity life has been reported differently in mainstream media. Thanks to CEO, Founder, Writer and Editor of TheYBF.com, Natasha Eubanks, 27, there is now a forum (that reached 1 million in revenue in 2009) where 13 million monthly readers can discuss their obsession with Black celebrity entertainment.
Besides gossip and ish talking, Ms. Eubanks has a thing for fashion. During her recent visit to Syracuse University, she sat down with “Style & Snow” to discuss her style addictions.
S&S: How do you style in snow?
Natasha: This year because of constant work (and the cold weather) I always have on uggs. I have them in many colors like dark brown and light gray. I often wear cardigans.I like to wear leggings, tights, and spanx underneath. I love American Apparel. I have their tights in just about every color. (For outwear), I like milatary coats because of their buttons and puffy sleeves.
S&S: So, you like winter fashion?
Natasha: I like fall much better. Winter is so drab. You have to cover everything in the winter. In the fall, it’s more like dressing in layers. I like to wear blazors, tights, and closed toe shoes. I wear bright colors and multi-color (silhouettes). It’s a little hint of spring but warm style.
S&S: Who are some of your celebs you don’t like to just talk about but look at?
Natasha: I love Solange’s look, not for me but I think she’s looks fresh and cute. I think Tracy Ellis is very stylish and chic.
S&S: I see you love bags. What is in your bag?
Natasha: Yes, I love big, staple bags. I spend a lot of money on them (so I pick them carefully--like color and size). So, I go for classic like Chanel. I keep several lip conditioners. I live by those. I love Nivea and Sephora’s Fresh lip conditioners.
S&S: Besides bags, how is your accessory game?
Natasha: I’m not big on accessories but I love sunglasses. Anything big. Anything that brings attention to the face. I love Chloé and Balenciaga.
S&S: Speaking of accessories, cellphones and laptops have become stylish outwear as well. What do you think? Are you team blackberry or iphone?
Natasha: I have both a Blackberry and iphone. I love my Blackberry for work and BBM. I love my iphone for the apps and updating and looking at my site. I may get my Blackberry golden plated with my site on it. I’m also thinking about TheYBF.com merchandise like laptop covers--definitely not a line but some TheYBF.com merchandise.
S&S: Do you plan on spreading your brand to fashion?
Natasha: I do plan on starting a lipgloss line maybe called Natasha Renee. Some friends and I are thinking of starting an online boutique.
