When it comes to multi-tasking, Mott 50, a line of stylish, sun-protective clothing, has it down. Each garment in the Mott 50 line offers a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) level of 50 - the average light-weight white t-shirt has a UPF level of just five. The Mott 50 line incorporates high quality, wearable fabrics that contain special weaves and washes, natural fibers such as bamboo, and color treatments that provide this heightened level of UV protection while you wear the clothing. Harmful UVA rays can penetrate conventional clothing, and while they may not burn (UVB do), they contribute to aging and skin cancer.
Co-founded by Monique Moore and Anne Botica, Mott 50 "seeks to bring stylish design to functional, protective clothing, including tunics and tanks, dresses, jackets and hats that you can wear, day or night, that take you way beyond the beach," according to the founders.
The Mott 50 line is endorsed by the Skin Cancer Foundation, with a portion of proceeds donated to cancer research. During the month of May, 10% of tunic sales will go to the Skin Cancer Foundation.
Mott 50 clothes have been researched, tested, and certified at the IUVTL (International UV Testing Laboratory) in accordance with AATCC (American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists) guidelines.
