A man in Germany, recently married and headed back from his honeymoon with his bride, made a bit of an error early on in their life together, forgetting a paramount rule when it comes to couples: Don’t leave your wife at a gas station! Incredulously, the groom drove for over two and a half hours before that feeling of “I’m missing something” kicked in. The thing missing? His wife.
MSN Now reported Oct. 12 that the two “newlyweds were on their way home from their honeymoon when they stopped for fuel, and the unnamed man didn't notice she'd gotten out of their van to hit the restroom.”
The couple had honeymooned in France and were driving back to Berlin – a drive of at least six hours. The man unwittingly left her in the bathroom in the central German town of Bad Hersfeld, taking off and not noticing she was absent from the van.
In defense of the chap, his bride had been napping in the backseat of their minivan, so it’s not as if she was sitting right next to him. Still, for him not to turn around in over two hours of drive time? That, on the other hand, is hard to defend.
“My first reaction was, ‘Is he stupid?’” the woman told a German radio station. “I had no money and no phone.”
But she was able to use the phone at the gas station to contact police, and the couple were reunited in matrimony, once again, about five hours later.
“I’m not angry with my husband,” she said. “He didn’t mean it.”
According to police, the woman was “patiently waiting.”
Don’t worry fella. The waiting she did will pale in comparison to the waiting you’ll do for her over the course of your marriage – while she gets ready, while she’s using the hot water up in the shower, while she’s shopping, while she’s picking out shoes…
