An interview with extremely talented stunt actor- Rick Tonna. Here's what he had to say about his experiences, in this line of work:
Please introduce yourself to the readers:
Hi My name is Rick Tonna I am an actor and stunt actor, I have been in the film and television industry for over 15 years.
How and when did you first get into performing?
Around 14 years ago I saw an ad in a magazine " become a Hollywood stuntman" it was an intensive 5 week training course, I signed up and as they say the rest is history .
Who were some of your biggest inspirations?
There are many people who inspire me on many levels, though the single most inspiring person ever was my father he single handedly has made me who I am.
What kind of training have you done?
I have undertaken a lot of training in many disciplines, early on I studied with various accomplished actors, and completed several short term acting courses with some of Australia's best drama schools. My stunt training began with a 5 week course and has since continued under some of the worlds best stunt men.
What has been your favorite role so far?
Well that's a tough one as there have been so many, if I have to pick one I would say the sergeant in the mini series "The Pacific" .Everyday was filled with explosions, tanks, gun battles , and when the day was over I went home, then got to play it again the very next day. I loved the hard edged marine I played, it gave me even more respect for the men and woman who serve.
What projects do you have coming up?
I have a lead role in an up coming action film in which I play the lead villain, "Mr Traxler". He is one nasty piece of work, who has many levels as a character, not your typical crime lord. He runs an empire with military precision and brutal efficiency. The story is based around an undercover officer who is framed for murder, he is sent to prison where he is thrown into a world of illegal cage fighting run by Mr Traxler. It is here, he finds out the truth about who killed his wife and framed him for murder. The film will have many fight sequences that I also will be choreographing. It's going to be one heck of a ride!
Who would be your ideal co star and why?
I would say Denzel Washington. I have a lot of respect for that man and he's one of the greatest actors of our time.
What are your plans for the future?
It has been a life long dream to make a story of mine into a film, the story is one of the most amazing ever, it will change the world for the better, interested? Stay tuned it will happen!
What is your advice to other aspiring artists?
Stay true to your dreams, don't let the world change you, you change the world!
