If you are a beginner knitter or just prefer knitting mittens flat, the "Generic Mittens Knit Flat" pattern is a 'must bookmark' print out free pattern. Most recently, it's been rumored on Twitter that today's knitters need too much coddling. Hats off to this knitting teacher for asking her students to think!

She is Brella on Ravelry and has kindly posted Totoro charts from the animated film My Neighbor Totoro, a chart for "Miffy", the rabbit and friend from a children's picture book by Dutch artist Dick Bruna and several more, all free downloads. While her darling Miffy mittens have no written pattern for the cuff, they are very similar, if not the same, as "Susie's Reading Mitts", and easy to use for any mitten size, adding the picot edge trim and lacework cuff.
