Students wake up to snow day

Students across Cincinnati woke up to a snow day on the morning after the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Monday evening, local news had been predicting snow accumulation between two to four inches to begin at midnight in Hamilton County.

Many public schools in southwestern Ohio opted to close for the day, including Carlisle Local, Cincinnati Public, Lakota, and Sycamore.

Cincinnati college students also received a temporary reprieve from classes. Art Academy of Cincinnati, Cincinnati State, Northern Kentucky University and Thomas More College cancelled classes.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Hamilton County in effect until 4pm on Tuesday, January 21. Snow accumulation of three to five inches, wind gusts of up to 35 miles per hour and snow-covered roadways are predicted.
