A student stuck between buildings has been rescued and is in the hospital recovering. On Nov. 4, ABC News reported that NYU student Asher Vongtau, 19, was found wedged between two buildings but he could not remember how it happened -- according to his mother. Asher somehow got himself stuck between a 17-story NYU residence hall and a parking garage in lower Manhattan.
"He really can't remember up until when he fell in there, exactly what happened. Maybe as he comes to. [He has] broken bones, arm, and contusions, and I think [a] fractured pelvis," Asher's mom Habiba Vongtau said.
The student stuck between buildings was found after several friends called police and reported him missing. Evidently some of those people told authorities to make sure they check the roof. Sure enough, Asher was found -- he had somehow fallen all the way down to the ground level. It took rescue crews an hour and a half to get Asher out of his tight predicament.
Authorities are still baffled as to how Asher got himself in such trouble. They believe that he was between the buildings for about two days -- any longer, and the situation could have been far more dire.
The student stuck between buildings is listed in "fair condition" at Bellevue Hospital. It is unknown if police have been in to speak to him since his rescue on Sunday.
