Student massage clinics offer budget-friendly relaxation

Massage clinics in Massachusetts
Student massage clinics near Boston

Several local massage and bodywork schools offer weekly student massage clinics where members of the public can receive a discounted session. The students benefit from seeing a wider variety of body types and health conditions than if they worked exclusively on family members and classmates.

Local Massage Clinics

The only student clinic in the immediate Boston area is at the Cortiva Institute in Watertown. However, if you live in the suburbs, or wish to drive a distance, there are several other choices available to you.

Cortiva Institute Boston School of Massage Therapy - located at 103 Morse Street in Watertown, student massage clinic offers appointment times for mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends, call 617-668-2000 to make an appointment.

Palmer Institute of Massage and Bodywork - 10 Jefferson Street, Salem, the student clinic also offers morning, afternoon, evening and weekend appointment times, call 978-740-0044 to schedule an appointment.

SpaTech Institute - 126 High Street, Ipswich, offers appointments on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays only, call 978-356-0980 extension 215 to request a time.

Student Clinic Expectations

When scheduling an appointment at a massage clinic keep in mind that the practitioners are students, still learning techniques. The school will set requirements before a student can offer clinic sessions, this may be a set number of classroom hours or a number of weeks in school. Be patient with your student massage therapist, she may be nervous practicing on someone other than a family member. Going for student massages can be a great way to relax and unwind but will not net the same level of therapeutic massage as given by an experience veteran in the field. It's great to see this information getting out to the people. It is a great deal. Spa Tech Institute has 3 locations in Massachusetts: Ipswich, Plymouth and Westboro. You can get directions at spatech.edu and find the clinic phone numbers.

It's also good to note that Palmer Institute that is referenced in the article has ceased operations.
