A student was gored by a rhinoceros at the Aloe Ridge Hotel and Nature Reserve in South Africa. ABC News reported on Jan. 15 that Chantal Beyer, 24, is currently in stable condition in the ICU at Krugersdorp Hospital in Roodepoort, South Africa.
A group of young people went the Aloe Ridge Hotel and Nature Reserve to see the African wildlife up close. The reserve offers a “true African safari experience.” Chantal Beyer was posing for a photo when the rhino gored her from behind.
Chantel Beyes has a collapsed right lung and some of her ribs were broken. Her injuries occurred when she was told to stand closer to the wild animals.
Rhinos can way several thousand pounds. They are just one of the many animals listed on the company's website that can be “sighted at close range.”
Chantel Beyer got too close to the rhino and was seriously hurt. She was told to stand closer to the animals by Alex Richter. Richter is the owner of The Aloe Ridge Hotel and Nature Reserve.
Chantel Beyer is a 24-year-old student from Johannesburg. At the time of publication, it was unknown if Chantel Beyer will recover from her injuries.
