Polk County 911 dispatched fire and rescue units to the scene of a fully involved structure fire just before 11:00 pm. on Saturday night.
Polk County volunteer fire stations from Blooming Grove, Prior Station, Young's Station, Esom Hill, and Lake Creek responded to the scene. No one was home at the time of the fire.
The home, located at 1560 Piedmont Highway belonged to Frankie and Susan Woods. The couple were contacted by family members who heard scanner reports of the fire. The homeowners arrived on the scene a couple of hours later to find their home in smoldering ruins.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The Fire Marshall will be on scene Monday morning to survey the damage.
The Red Cross provided the homeowners with shelter last night at the Holiday Inn Express in Cedartown.
