Rick Fairless and crew are looking forward to hosting their 4th annual Chili Cook-Off on New Years Day at Strokers and the rules are -- well, there aren't any rules!
The only requirement is that the chili has to be hot at 1p.
"It's more laid back and fun", said Lena Fairless. "Just pick a name for your chili and have a general list of ingredients written down in front of each chili."
And example is: "Knock Off Chili" (Lamb, Venison, Beef, Veggies).
There are 14 teams signed up and they will be dishing out until 4p (or until it runs out -- which, more than likely, is what will happen first!). It's just $5 to participate in the tastings and the Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants game will be on the screens.

For those of you that plan on drinking and riding tonight to celebrate New Years Eve, here's a list of reasons why you probably don't want to do that:
- Regardless of how good of a rider you think you are, your bike does not have training wheels to balance your happy ass upright.
- If you don't have enough respect for yourself or your fellow riders/drivers, at least have enough respect for your motorcycle to not put it in jeopardy. (It's not your bikes' fault that it ended up with a drunken schmuck like you riding it!)
- All on-duty, uniformed police officers are giddy about tonight and probably vying to break DUI arrest records. (We are in Texas and a competitive streak is part of our genetic code here!)
- You want to make sure you aren't so hung over that you can't go to Stroker's for their 4th annual Chili Cook-Off!
- If all else fails and you have to put a lip-lock on a few bottles, then put this number into your phone: 1-800-222-4357. Between 6p on New Years Eve and 6a on New Years Day, the cool folks at AAA will take your drunk, drooling, slovenly self home for free.

In closing, I leave you with this toast:
To the beauty of our horses and the strength of our women, have the most amazing year in 2012 -- embrace it, live it, love it!
