Strip clubs and I go way back. We have what I would call a love love relationship. One built on mutual understanding, respect, and the ability to keep secrets like a safe.
My favorite of all time was also the one I worked at as a DJ for a quick buck during my second year at Michigan State University. A place so seedy that the only comparison that could be made here in San Diego would be Star Bar, only as a strip club of course. Omar’s taught me things. Things I’ll never forget. Things that shaped my career and outlook. Things about people, and things about me.
Now, little is required to get me inside a strip club and this Thursday, March 1st is no exception. A Facebook invite came my way for a special event called Stripperaoke, and I’m sick with anticipation. Giddy even.
What I gather from the invitation is that as attendees sing Karaoke, strippers are nearby, doing as they do best. Along with an RSVP you can request a song to sing to, and priority is given to those who reserve a table with the club.
The genius here is that a whole new dimension is added to the standard naked fare. There’s really only so many ways a woman can undress: in a shower, in a shower of cash, in a shower with a birthday boy in it, on stage, in front of you, on top of you, and so on. On Thursday we’ll have a lot more than all that naked boring to watch, and it’ll be grand.
An RSVP is necessary as the venue has a limited capacity and scores you $10 cover, $1 street tacos, and $4 Corona bottles. The party starts at 9pm, the Karaoke at 10pm, and the awesome… well that’s started already.
Pacer’s Showgirls International, located in Point Loma, has two stages, a full bar, and offers bottle service as well. And Thursday it’s got Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and Kurt Cobain tributes to boot.
Oh, and it’s worth mentioning that this is a birthday party for a couple San Diego social elites. Hopefully they won’t mind a few party crashers, but with such a great idea like this… what are they to expect!
