WBTV is reporting a strip mall in Gaston County has been destroyed by fire that was home to a furniture store and hair salon Thursday morning.
Authorities say flames were seen coming from the mall around 4 a.m. Thursday morning.
It was reported that the fire began apart from the mall itself and spread inward. The time of the fire has caused authorities to be suspicious and to believe the fire was the result of arson.
There were no injuries, due to the time of the fire, but two classic cars, both of which were inside of the building, were destroyed.
The fire is said to have been so intense, that so much water was used that two nearby homes were flooded.
The strip mall had been home to the Roy Gunn Carpet World which had been in business for 40 years. A new roof had just been put on the building.
