Gegard Mousasi defeated Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou via TKO due to strikes at 3:43 of the second round.
Sokoudjou was the aggressor at the opening bell and nearly got himself into bad position one too many times, failing to bring a guillotine to finish from the ground to the feet and eventually allowing Mousasi to gain side control. Sokoudjou effectively used his judo and hip pivots to reverse Mousasi’s takedown attempt, gaining position on the ground.
Round Two appeared at the beginning to be much the same, but Mousasi began to overwhelm Sokoudjou on the feet with knees to the thighs at the cage. Sokoudjou again reversed Mousasi’s takedown and landed in half-guard.
Mousasi made a hip escape, moved into his opponent’s guard and used the ground-and-pound. Sokoudjou was virtually inactive in defense and referee David Smith called it a TKO at 3:43 of the second round.
