July 26th marks the 6th annual street art contest, known as the Cammino dell Arte Italian Street Art Painting Festival, held at Crossings at Corona in Corona, CA where artists will be featuring their talents from 7 AM – 5 PM using chalk. From 11 AM – 5 PM there will be live music, as well as face painting, a clown, and other fun activities for children and adults looking for a good time in Corona. Since this is a judged competition you are encouraged to show support for your favorite artist.
Last year’s “Artist Choices” included Cecilia Linayao and Sydney Marquez (featured on the flyer for the event located here), where one artist (Linayao) drew a large black and white face of a woman surrounded by sunflowers in color. This is reflective of the type of art that will be drawn at this event – all political paintings or images unsuitable for children are strictly prohibited. There will also be a Free Form and Masters section where artists will create their own designs that had not been submitted to the Festival committee for approval.
Unfortunately, this is a set event where artists must apply and be approved before they can actually draw on the sidewalk, so if anyone wanted to showcase their talent the deadline for the application has already passed. However, there is so much to enjoy at this event – food, music, art and chances to talk to the artists once they have finished with their work, if one was so inclined.
