Stray Belgian Malinois mix had a microchip, but his owner did not come for him

Update 8/22/14: RESCUE PENDING Bow Wow Revolution

They call him Texas, but this senior Belgian Malinois mix is in Chicago, the city's animal control facility to be exact.

Texas was picked up as a stray back in late July and he had all of the signs that led the animal control employees to believe he would be reclaimed by an owner. Texas has a microchip, he is neutered and he is well-mannered. Unfortunately, the facility received no response from the number that they called on Texas' microchip and today, the older dog is out of time.

During his stay at the Chicago Animal Care and Control facility, Texas has been bathed, had his nails trimmed and interacted with other dogs; he did well on all fronts.

Volunteers have noted that he is a "gentle soul."

Days ago, an individual who met Texas wrote the following words after their time together:

This boy is smart and very well-mannered. Took him out Thurs night. Fetched and dropped the ball, walked well on-leash, took treats gently after i asked him to sit. Really great dog!

On the Chicago Animal Care and Control Transfer Team page, the following information is posted about Texas:

Med energy, nervous inside better outside, not attention seeking but easily accepts pets, especially butt scratches, likes chasing toys but doesnt fetch, treat motivated knows sit down come.

Needs dental. He was chipped and owners didn't come. I loved him since he arrived and volunteers that walk him are enamored.

Texas is a good boy who had an owner and for some reason, that person has chosen not to pick him up from the animal control facility; Texas has run out of time and needs to leave the facility sooner than later.
