Newark Strawberry Festival Taking place on Courthouse Square in downtown Newark, the Strawberry Festival is Licking County's largest annual event. This year's theme is "Strawberries on the Square."

Activities include amusement rides, an arts & crafts show featuring over 90 artisans and crafters and four different pageants (for different age groups) including the Strawberry Princess Contest and the Little Miss Strawberry Contest.

There will also be non-stop entertainment featuring Country and Variety music as well as a performance by cloggers.

Of course, there will be a variety of food available for purchase (including pizza, specialty sandwiches and French fries) but everybody really comes for the strawberries and the famous strawberry shortcake served with creamy Velvet Ice Cream made at Ye Old Mill in Utica. To provide this tasty treat, the Strawberry Festival goes through 250 flats of bulk strawberries.

A large portion of the proceeds from the Newark Strawberry festival will go to help fund Camp O'Bannon, a camp for underprivileged children.

Hours for the Newark Strawberry Festival are 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday. Parking is available around the Square.
