The deaths of three children who became tangled in the cords used to raise and lower window blinds and shades, as well as injuries to other numerous other children, prompted the recall of millions of window blinds and shades. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recalls on Wednesday, August 26, 2009.
The recalls apply to blinds and shades made by the following companies:
Lutron Shading Solutions by Virginia Iron and Metal Company Inc (VIMCO)
Victoria Classics Roman Shades sold by Target Stores
Roman Shades by Pottery Barn Kids
MELINA Roman Blinds sold by IKEA Home Furnishings
Lewis Hyman Inc. Roll-Up Blinds and Roman Shades
