Springfield residents are wondering what the loud booms were that they heard this weekend. Government officials are investigating but have no idea what the noises were or where they came from.
According to ABC news affiliate KSPR, witnesses called in to report loud booms from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Feb. 3. The callers were from Aurora, Mount Vernon, Nixa, Ozark, and Reeds Spring. Officials haven't yet determined what caused the odd noises. The last earthquake which was anywhere near the Ozarks, was recorded in Oklahoma City. It was more than 12 hours before the witness reports.
What are these booms? That is one question on a lot of Springfield citizen's minds right now. This question may continue to go unanswered. Strange sounds are continuing to be heard all over the United States. Officials are left baffled and are scratching their heads.
"At this point, nobody seems to know. The geologists say it's not in the ground, the Air Force says it's not in the air, the astronomers say it's not from space, so we're running out of options," one official said.
Some people think that the weird noises are paranormal related, others say they are extraterrestrial based, and a few folks claim that they have a biblical meaning. Others believe that there is a more scientific explanation. As of right now, no one seems to have a clear answer as to what these strange sounds are.
